PROVO, Utah – The opening round of the 2022 NIT continues on Wednesday night for BYU/Long Beach State. BYU will be the host team as a two-seed. After missing out on the NCAA Tournament, the Cougars earned an at-large NIT bid.

Long Beach State earned an automatic bid to the NIT after winning the regular-season championship of the Big West Conference.
ESPN has broadcast rights to the 2022 NIT and placed BYU/Long Beach State on their premium streaming service, ESPN+.
This year’s NIT appearance is the 15th all-time for BYU, the ninth for LBSU. It’s the second meeting ever in the postseason between the two schools. BYU/Long Beach State met in the postseason in the 1972 NCAA Tournament in Pocatello, Idaho. The Beach won that game 95-90 in overtime.
