SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell penetrated the paint drawing three Pelican defenders before kicking to the corner where a wide open Royce O’Neale knocked down the corner three.
The new look New Orleans Pelicans hosted the Jazz at Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans, LA on Friday, March 4.
In a half where the Jazz seemed more likely to turn the ball over than score, Donovan Mitchell drove by Herb Jones, spun through Jaxson Hayes and Willy Hernangomez before finding O’Neale in the left corner with a right handed, underhand scoop pass that hit Royce perfectly in the shooting pocket.

Mitchell is averaging a career-best 5.3 assists per game and his vision seems to be improving with each game played.
O’Neale, after struggling with his shot prior to the All-Star break, has scored nine points in each of the Jazz three post-break games. He is shooting a career-high 41.4 percent from beyond the arc and averaging a career-best 7.7 points per game.
In a matchup of two of the hottest teams in the NBA, the Pelicans currently sit in the 10th seed in the Western Conference, they’ve won six of their last 10 games, and haven’t lost since the All-Star break.
The Jazz owned the best record in the Western Conference in February, finishing 8-1, and seeing head coach Quin Snyder taking home the Coach of the Month award for their efforts.
