Weber State Suffers Heartbreaking Loss To Northern Colorado In Overtime

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats couldn’t come out on top as they fell to Northern Colorado 83-79 in overtime on Saturday night at home.
After a strong first half for Weber State outscoring Northern Colorado 32-25, the Bears forced overtime by outscoring the Wildcats 40-33 in the second half. UNC scored 18 points in the extra period and held WSU to 14 points.
With 20 seconds left in regulation, Matt Johnson hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 65. In overtime, Weber State had a 72-71 lead with 2:40 remaining when Northern Colorado went on 6-0 run before the Wildcats scored again. Then the Bears exchanged buckets with WSU and pulled away with the win.

Koby McEwen led the Wildcats with 29 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Dontay Bassett dropped 13 points and five rebounds. Dillon Jones added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Weber State shot 44% from the field and 30% from the three-point line.
Johnson scored 25 points to lead the Bears. He shot 11-of-16 from the field and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. Dru Kuxhausen poured in 21 points. Dalton Knecht had 13 points off the bench and Daylen Kountz added 12 points.
Northern Colorado hit 44% from the field, including a perfect 6-for-6 in overtime, along with 43% from the perimeter.
Weber State dropped their record to 19-9 overall and 12-5 in Big Sky play. They will hit the road for their final trip of the regular season beginning on Thursday, February 24 against Portland State at 8 p.m. MT on ESPN+.
