Jazz Get Large Lead Over Magic After Big Run In First Quarter

SALT LAKE CITY – Near the midway point of the first quarter against the Orlando Magic, the Utah Jazz held a large lead after a big run on Friday night at Vivint Arena.
With 7:12 left in the first quarter, Orlando Magic guard Cole Anthony hit a three-pointer to tie the game at seven before the Utah Jazz went on a big run. After that bucket by Anthony, the Jazz went on a 17-0 run and was up 24-7 with 2:21 remaining in the opening quarter before the Magic stopped the run.

The Big Run By The Jazz Against The Magic
After Anthony’s three-pointer, Utah was sparked by a three-pointer by Donovan Mitchell, followed by an and-one. Then the Jazz All-Star hit three free throws. Royce O’Neale added a bucket before Mitchell scored again.
Hassan Whiteside ended the run with two straight buckets.
Throughout the run, Donovan Mitchell led the way with 11 of the 17 points. Hassan Whiteside chipped in four points and Royce O’Neale had two points.
Rudy Gobert was out for the game against the Magic as he hopes to return before the All-Star break. The Utah Jazz big man told ESPN’s Lisa Salters during the game against Golden State on Wednesday that he plans to participate in the All-Star game.
