Dixie State’s Comeback Falls Short Against New Mexico State

SALT LAKE CITY – The Dixie State men’s basketball team suffered a home loss to New Mexico State after a first half deficit was too much to overcome.
The Trailblazers hosted the Aggies on Thursday, February 10.
Dixie State fell to NMSU, 77-69.

The Aggies controlled the first half of the contest and took a seven-point advantage into the halftime break.
At one point, New Mexico State owned a 14-point lead over Dixie State.
Over the final 20 minutes of game time, the Blazers battled and were outscored by only a point during the second half. The Trailblazers were unable to overcome the early deficit and fell by eight points. Dixie State finished the game shooting 40.5 percent overall and only 22.2 percent on three-pointers.

Frank Staine led the Blazers with 17 points on 8-15 field goals. He added five rebounds and two assists.
With the loss, the Trailblazers fell to an 11-13 record, including 4-7 in Western Athletic Conference action. Dixie State’s next game is at home against Grand Canyon on Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
