SUU’s Winning Streak Snapped With Road Loss To Montana

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team suffered a road loss to the Montana Grizzlies and lost for the first time in five games.
The Grizzlies hosted the Thunderbirds on Monday, February 7.

After a back-and-forth first half, the T-Birds trailed by only a point at the halftime break, 30-29. However, the Grizzlies were too much for Southern Utah over the final 20 minutes of action. Montana outscored SUU by 10 points over the final half of basketball and sent the T-Birds home with a loss.
Southern Utah finished the night shooting 38.9 percent overall and 29.4 percent on three-pointers. Tevian Jones led the Thunderbirds with 23 points, four rebounds, and an assist.

With the loss, the Thunderbirds fell to a record of 15-7 this season, including 9-3 in Big Sky Conference contests.
Southern Utah’s next game is on the road against the Sacramento State Hornets on Saturday, February 12 at 2 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
