Five T-Birds Reach Double Figures In Scoring To Help SUU Beat EWU

SALT LAKE CITY – Five members of Southern Utah’s men’s basketball team scored in double figures to help the Thunderbirds beat the Eastern Washington Eagles.
The Thunderbirds hosted Eagles on Saturday, February 5.

The T-Birds and Eagles battled through the beginning minutes of the contest. Eastern Washington took a narrow lead of one point into the locker room at the halftime break.
However, the Thunderbirds controlled the closing 20 minutes of game time. The T-Birds outscored the Eagles 48-35 during the second half.

Southern Utah led for the final 18:29 of the contest and capture a big conference victory.
Southern Utah finished the game shooting 51.8 percent overall and 47.6 percent from downtown. Four of SUU’s starters reached double figures in points. Tevian Jones led the Thunderbirds with 19 points, five rebounds, and an assist.

With the win, the Thunderbirds improved their record to 15-6 this season, including 9-2 in Big Sky Conference action.
Southern Utah’s next game is on the road against the Montana Grizzlies on Monday, February 7 at 7 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
