Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Crosses Over, Swats Nets’ Edwards

SALT LAKE CITY – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell crossed over Kessler Edwards before blocking one of his shots during the first half of Utah’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Jazz hosted the Nets at Vivint Arena on Friday, February 4.
With 9:15 left in the half, Mitchell faked out Brooklyn’s Kessler Edwards before rising up and connecting on a 26-foot stepback triple.

31 seconds later, Edwards attempted a shot from four-feet out. Mitchell was defending Edwards and hung in the air until the attempt was released. The Jazz guard’s defense set up a pretty rejection that kept Utah’s lead at 45-27.
At halftime, the Jazz owned a 68-47 advantage.
During the first 24 minutes of action, Mitchell had a team-high 11 points on 3-4 field goals. He added two rebounds, four assists, and a block in 12 minutes on the hardwood. Mitchell posted a plus-15 rating in the half.

He last played on January 17.
He missed Utah’s last eight games due to a concussion. During Mitchell’s recovery and absence from the court, the Jazz posted a 2-6 record, including a five-game losing streak.
This season, Mitchell is averaging 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per contest.
