No. 1 SLCC Men’s Basketball Claims Scenic West Regular Season Title

SALT LAKE CITY – The number 1 ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins men’s basketball clinched the Scenic West regular season title on Monday night.
SLCC needed to beat Community Christian in order to clinch the Scenic West regular season title after a dominating 141-82 win at home. The Bruins entered the night as the top ranked junior college program in the country and a 23-0 overall record, including 12-0 in conference play.
Community Christian came to Utah winless at 0-17 overall and 0-10 in conference play. SLCC played Community Christian twice before Monday’s contest. They picked up a 169-93 win on December 11 and a 127-81 victory on January 15.
The Bruins have five games left in the regular season. They will travel to price on Saturday, February 5 to face Utah State University Eastern. Then they will host Utah Peaks Prep on Tuesday, February 8. SLCC will then have a showdown with Snow College at home on Saturday, February 12 before traveling to College of Southern Idaho on Wednesday, February 16. Their final home game of the regular season will be on Saturday, February 19 against Colorado Northwestern Community College.
After the regular season, SLCC will host the Region 18 tournament from February 24-26. Then they will have the District I Playoff in Arizona on Saturday, March 5 before the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.

SLCC Picking Up Blowout Win Over Community Christian
It was a closer contest in the first half as the Bruins took a 59-43 lead at the halftime break. They took the game over in the second half by outscoring Community Christian 82-39. Nine Bruins scored in double figures, led by Quincy McGriff with 22 points and four rebounds. Doctor Bradley chipped in 19 points and five boards. Jordan Brinson recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Tanner Cuff and Marion Humphrey posted 15 points apiece, while Jackson Last and Max Watson each had 14 points. Chase Adams posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists. Jaxon Pollard added 10 points and seven boards.
The Bruins shot 55% from the field, 34% from the three-point line and went 28-of-37 from the free throw line.
Dionte Hill led the Saints with 20 points. Nicholas Watson recorded 14 points, while Lamont Evans scored 11 points off the bench. Community Christian shot 50% from the field, 28% from downtown and 14-for-23 at the foul line.
