No. 4 Red Rocks Has Strong Performance In Big Win Over No. 3 Oklahoma

SALT LAKE CITY – The fourth ranked Red Rocks had a strong performance all-around and was able to take down No. 3 Oklahoma at the Huntsman Center on Friday.

Utah knocked off the Sooners 197.775-196.650. That is the highest score in NCAA this season so far.

Red Rocks freshman Grace McCallum won the all-around title in the meet with a 39.675.

First Rotation

The Red Rocks started the meet on the vault, while the Sooners were on bars. Lucy Stanhope was near a perfect 10, finishing with a 9.925. Grace McCallum and Cammy Hall both had great performances with a 9.90 each. Alexia Burch added a 9.875, along with a 9.850 from Jaedyn Rucker.

For the Sooners, Audrey Davis had a 9.925 to lead the way. Jordan Bowers and Karrie Thomas chipped in scores of 9.90 each.

After the first rotation, the two teams were tied at 49.450.

Second Rotation

Utah moved over to bars on the second rotation, with OU competing on vault. Sage Thompson led the Red Rocks with a 9.925. Maile O’Keefe and Grace McCallum each added a 9.875. Cristal Isa posted a score of 9.850.

For Oklahoma, Jordan Bowers had a 9.975 to lead the way. Katherine Levasseur recorded a 9.950, while Sheridan Ramsey dropped a score of 9.825.

At the end of the second rotation, Utah was up 98.800-98.775.

Third Rotation

The Red Rocks went over to the beam, while Oklahoma was on the floor. Utah had a great rotation with three gymnasts recording a 9.925, including Grace McCallum, Cristal Isa and Maile O’Keefe. Abby Paulson chipped in a 9.900, along with a 9.800 from Adrienne Randall.

The Sooners were led by Jordan Bowers with a 9.90. Bell Johnson and Carly Woodard each posted a score of 9.875, with Audrey Davis recording a 9.825.

Through three rotations, Utah held a 148.275-147.975 advantage.

Fourth Rotation

Utah ended the meet on the floor, with the Sooners wrapping up on the beam. Grace McCallum was outstanding on the floor exercise with a 9.975. Jaedyn Rucker and Sydney Soloski each dropped a score of 9.925. Maile O’Keefe posted a 9.850.

Ragan Smith led OU with a 9.975. Jenna Dunn dropped in a score of 9.925 and Audrey Davis added a 9.850.

The Red Rocks improved their record to 4-0 this season. They will dive into Pac-12 action when they host Arizona State on Friday, January 21 at 7 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
