Utah DE Xavier Carlton Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah freshman defensive end Xavier Carlton has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal after two seasons with the Utes.
Xavier Carlton joined the Utah program in the 2020 signing class. He played in four games as a true freshman in 2020, posting one tackle against USC.
During the 2021 campaign, Carlton played in 11 games, including two starts at defensive end. He finished the season with 18 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, a quarterback hit and one pass breakup.
Jake Hatch of The Zone Sports Network reported the news of Carlton entering the portal.

The 2022 season was set to be a big one for Carlton as he and Van Fillinger were expected to start on the edges, following the departure of Mika Tafua to the NFL.
Carlton was a four-star prospect coming out of Juan Diego High School. His father Demetrius was with the Utes in 1989.
