DRAPER, Utah – Corner Canyon wide receiver Cody Hagen was named Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Utah for the 2021 season.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect was a star of the Corner Canyon’s high-powered offense finishing his senior season with 89 receptions for 1,805 yards, good for 20.3 yards per catch.

Hagen averaged a staggering 128.9 yards per game and hauled in 23 touchdown grabs from Ohio State commit Devin Brown.
This is the third consecutive year that Utah’s Gatorade Player of the Year has come from Corner Canyon High School. The previous two winners were Cody’s older brother, Cole, in 2019 and Jaxson Dart in 2020.
Dart won the National Gatorade Player of the Year last season, the first time a player from Utah was recognized with America’s top high school honor.
Cody is now the third member of the Hagen family to earn the Gatorade Player of the Year honor. He joins the previously mentioned Cody and his father Sean, who won the award in 1992 as a QB at Brighton.
Along with flourishing on the football field, Hagen has been a track star during his time at Corner Canyon. In May, Hagen ran a 10.52 100-meter at a state high school track & field event on BYU’s campus.
Hagen plans to continue his football career at BYU. He picked the Cougars over offers from USC, Michigan, Utah, and Stanford.
Since 1985, the first year Gatorade began awarding the Utah Player of the Year honor, BYU has had 16 award winners play for the Cougars. Hagen will be the 17th.
Before enrolling at BYU, Hagen plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When he returns home from his mission, Hagen will be playing for a BYU program that resides in the Big 12 Conference.
