Jets QB Zach Wilson Wins NFL Rookie Of The Week For Second Time

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson received NFL Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Wilson was honored on Thursday, December 9 for his Week 13 performance.
It was Wilson’s second team receiving the league’s Rookie of the Week award in 2021. He first received the honor after his performance in Week 4.

The former BYU star scored three touchdowns during the Jets’ Week 13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on December 5. All three of Wilson’s scores came during the first half.
He finished the game 23/38 passing for 226 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He added three carries for zero yards and a touchdown in New York’s 33-18 loss.

This season, Wilson has thrown for 1,539 yards, six touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He run the ball 13 times for 25 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson has fumbled the ball twice and been sacked 25 times.
Midway through the season, the quarterback missed four games due to a PCL injury.
The former BYU standout was selected by the Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft.
Wilson and the Jets currently own a 3-9 record and sit in fourth place in the AFC East.
New York’s next game is against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 12 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on CBS.
