Utah Dominates Oregon For First Pac-12 Title, Clinches Rose Bowl Bid

LAS VEGAS – The University of Utah football team had another dominating performance after a 38-10 win over the Oregon Ducks to win their first Pac-12 title in school history.
Utah clinched their first Rose Bowl berth in school history with the win over Oregon in the Pac-12 title game at Allegiant Stadium.

It’s a very pro-Utah crowd in Allegiant Stadium and Utes fans have made their presence known before kickoff.
The Allegiant Stadium DJ asked the crowd who was cheering for Oregon and who was cheering for Utah.

First Quarter
Utah got in good field position after Britain Covey returned the opening kickoff 39 yards. The Utes made some key plays including on fourth and one. On third and long in the red zone, Cam Rising threw to Jaylen Dixon and Oregon was called for a pass interference in the end zone. That set Utah up at the Oregon two-yard line and Tavion Thomas punched it in to give the Utes a 7-0 lead with 10:39 remaining in the opening quarter.

After a couple of punts on both sides, Oregon QB Anthony Brown threw an interception to Devin Lloyd, who returned it 34 yards for a touchdown. The Utes took a 14-0 lead with under five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Second Quarter
When the Utes got the ball back, Cam Rising threw an interception to former Orem High School star Noah Sewell. The Ducks were approaching the red zone when they faced a third and short situation. The Ducks got called for a false start. Anthony Brown overthrew his receiver and the Ducks were forced to kick a field goal.
Camden Lewis missed a 44-yard field goal.

With under four minutes left in the second quarter, they held a moment of loudness in honor of Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe inside Allegiant Stadium.

Utah was able to get the ball late in the first half and capitalized by a touchdown pass from Cam Rising to Dalton Kincaid from 11 yards out. They couldn’t get a PAT after a bad snap. Utah held a 20-0 lead with 27 seconds remaining in the first half.

Rather than taking a knee to end the half, Anthony Brown flushed out of the pocket and tried to make a play before going out of bounds. He ended up throwing an interception to Malone Mataele. The Utes got a quick pass play to Britain Covey out of bounds before Jadon Redding made a 50-yard field goal to end the half. Utah took a 23-0 lead to the locker room.

Third Quarter
Early in the third quarter, Oregon scored their first points of the game after Camden Lewis nailed a 42-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 23-3 with 10:42 remaining in the third.
Utah countered with a four-yard rushing TD by T.J. Pledger. The Utes added two more points after Rising got the conversion to make it 31-3 with 6:33 remaining in the third.

Fourth Quarter
Early in the fourth quarter, Tavion Thomas ran in his second touchdown of the night and 20th of the season to give the Utes a 38-3 lead with 10:21 remaining in the game.
Oregon added a touchdown with 5:17 left in the game to cut Utah’s lead to 38-10.
