Utah Valley Holds Off Nicholls State At SoCal Challenge

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Valley men’s basketball team held off the Nicholls State Colonels in the second half for a win at the SoCal Challenge.
The Wolverines and Colonels played at JSerra Pavillion in San Juan Capistrano on Wednesday, November 24.
UVU beat Nicholls, 74-63.
The Wolverines blitzed the Colonels early and went on a 16-0 run during the first 6:38 of the first half.
Utah Valley stretched its lead to 25 points at one point before halftime and led 44-22 at the break.
During the first 20 minutes of action, the Wolverines shot a blazing 54.5 percent overall and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc.

After the break, the Colonels opened the second half on a 13-2 run to put pressure back on the Wolverines.
Despite the spurt by Nicholls State, Utah Valley maintained a double-digit lead throughout the majority of the final 20 minutes.
The Wolverines finished the contest shooting 43 percent from the field, including 28 percent on three-pointers.
Blaze Nield and Connor Harding led UVU with 13 points apiece.
With the win, the Wolverines improved to a 5-1 record this season.
Utah Valley’s next game is at home against the Denver Pioneers on Saturday, November 27 at 3 p.m. (MDT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
