SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women’s basketball team is off to a great start to the season after posting a 78-45 win over Cincinnati.
The win for Utah marks the fourth straight victory to start the season. Kennady McQueen sparked the team in the first quarter by scoring eight of her 15 points in the period. She had seven points in the second quarter.
The Utes outscored the Bearcats 23-9 in the first quarter. Utah had another strong quarter in the second by outscoring Cincinnati 21-10 and held a 44-19 lead at the break.

Utes head coach Lynne Roberts was able to use her depth as McQueen was the only player to score in double figures. Brynna Maxwell and Kelsey Rees each added nine points. Dasia Young was fantastic on the boards, finishing with 12 rebounds, including 10 in just the first quarter.

Utah didn’t shoot the ball well in this game compared to the previous three. They made just 41% of their field goal attempts and 26% from the three-point line. That’s why the Utes started to attack the paint. They outscored Cincinnati 48-26 in the paint.
Utah improved their record to 4-0 on the season. They will hit the road for the first time this season as they will participate in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown. The first game will be against Gonzaga on Friday, November 26 at 3 p.m. MT. Then they will battle Hawai’i on Saturday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m. MT. Finally, they will wrap the trip to Hawai’i with a game against Eastern Illinois on Sunday, November 28 at 3 p.m. MT.
