SUU Suffers Second Straight Defeat In Road Loss To Saint Mary’s

SALT LAKE CITY – The Southern Utah men’s basketball team fell on the road for the second straight contest in a loss to the Saint Mary’s Gaels.
The Gaels hosted the Thunderbirds at University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, California on Monday, November 15.
SUU lost to Saint Mary’s, 70-51.

A slow start to the game was the T-Birds’ downfall. While Southern Utah limited Saint Mary’s to 29 points, the Thunderbirds were able to put up only 16 points during the opening 20 minutes of the contest.
Saint Mary’s outscored Southern Utah by six points in the second half to close out the double-digit game.
The T-Birds finished shooting 35.0 percent from the field, including 15.4 percent from beyond the arc.
John Knight III led SUU with 11 points on 5-8 shooting.

With the loss, the Thunderbirds dropped to a 1-2 record this season.
Southern Utah’s next game is against the California Bears on Thursday, November 18 at 8 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
