Weber State Suffers Disappointing Loss At Home To Portland State

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats couldn’t get over the hump on Saturday as they fell to Portland State 30-18 at Stewart Stadium.
Weber State’s offense couldn’t get going, along with their defense not being able to limit the Vikings’ offense.
Bronson Barron completed 18 of his 28 pass attempts for 174 yards. Creyton Cooper had seven carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Rashid Shaheed led the receiver group with seven receptions for 90 yards.
Cooper scored the first touchdown of the game on a 51-yard run to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Portland State responded with 17 unanswered points from the second quarter until the early part of the third quarter. The Vikings had a 17-7 lead before Weber State scored a field goal. Portland State held a 17-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

PSU scored a touchdown early in the fourth to extend their lead to 24-10 before Cooper ran in a two-yard touchdown just over four minutes later. Malik Walker put the game out of reach with a 39-yard touchdown run in the final two minutes.
Portland State racked up 395 yards of total offense, including 299 passing and 96 rushing yards.
Weber State dropped their record to 4-5 overall and 3-3 in Big Sky play. They will be on the road to face their rival Southern Utah in Cedar City on Saturday, November 13 at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN+ and 103.1 FM “The Wave.”
