SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah and Oregon State will meet for the 24th time in the series history on Saturday in Corvallis and it’s a tightly contested series.
While the Utes have had the recent success, they were just making up ground after the Beavers started the series strong. The first game between the two schools was in 1931 when Oregon State beat the Utes 12-0 in Portland.
Utah returned the favor in 1947 with a 7-6 win at home in 1947.
All-time, the series is tied 11-11-1 with Utah winning the last five meetings.
Pac-12 Era
Utah joined the Pac-12 in 2011 and has played Oregon State eight times, taking a break for two years from 2017-18 due to the conference scheduling format. The first meeting as conference foes was in 2011 at home where the Utes picked up a 27-8 win. John White IV rushed for 205 yards and a touchdown.
Utah made the trip to Corvallis in 2012 when the Beavers were ranked No. 8 and knocked off the Utes 21-7. In 2013, Utah hosted OSU and put on a show that went to overtime where the Beavers picked up the win. 2014 was when the current streak started and the Utes were ranked in four of those five matchups. Utah beat OSU 29-23 in 2014, 27-12 in 2015, 19-14 in 2016, 52-7 in 2019 and 30-24 last season.

Pre-Pac-12 Era
After the series was tied at one, the Utes and Beavers met again in 1948 in Corvallis and the game finished in a tie at 20. The next two meetings would be in the Pacific Northwest in 1949 (27-7) and 1951 (61-28) where the Beavers got the better of the Utes.
Oregon State went on to win the next four games, including three in Salt Lake City from 1952-68. The Utes snapped that streak with a 7-3 win on the road at 1969. That was the first time the two teams met with Oregon State as a member of the Pac-8 conference. Oregon State won the next matchup in 1970, 31-21.
The conference moved to the Pac-10 when the two teams met again in 1991 and 1992. Utah won both of those games, first one on the road and second at home. The series was on hold for almost 15 years before the Utes went to Corvallis and lost to OSU 24-7 in 2007. The No. 15 Utes picked up a 31-28 comeback win at home in 2008 to keep their undefeated season alive.
