LOGAN, Utah – Baylor Romney will get his second consecutive start at quarterback for BYU football. The Cougars are taking on Utah State tonight in Logan in the 90th battle for the Old Wagon Wheel.
Like last week, injured Jaren Hall did not dress in the pregame. BYU head coach Kalani Sitake told Greg Wrubell on the BYU Sports Network on KSL NewsRadio, “He deserves it. After we had some time with Jaren in practice, we feel like this is the right thing to do, as far as Jaren is not 100% and ready to go. We’ll be with Baylor and Jacob Conover tonight.”

BYU comes into tonight’s game with a 4-0 record and ranked No. 13 in the AP Top 25 poll. Last week, Romney passed for over 300 passing yards and put together an impressive performance in a 35-27 win over USF.
Sitake also said on the BYU Sports Network that Hall “wants to play, but we have to do the smart thing and protect him.”

BYU will also be without James Empey in the starting lineup of the offensive line. Replacing Empey is freshman Connor Pay who saw significant center snaps in the 2020 Boca Raton Bowl win over UCF a season ago.
Offensive tackle Harris LaChance is also out. In replace of him is freshman Campbell Barrington. Then at fullback Masen Wake will be out as well.
BYU and Utah State kicks off at 7 p.m. and you can listen to the calls of the games on KSL NewsRadio (BYU call) and the Zone Sports Network (Utah State call). The game is being televised on CBS Sports Network.
