SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After opening Pac-12 play with a win over Washington State, three Utah football players earned Player of the Week honors.

Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd was named the Reese’s Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week after racking up eight tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and an interception.

Defensive end Van Fillinger earned Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week honors after picking up five tackles and three sacks in the win over the Cougars.

Linebacker Karene Reid was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week after leading the team with 15 tackles, to go with one sack and an interception in his first career start.

Reid and Fillinger are the third and fourth Utah players to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, joining Devin Lloyd as the Defensive Player of the Week after the win over Weber State in Week 1 and Britain Covey earning Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the loss to San Diego State.

Running back T.J. Pledger was nominated for Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week. Lloyd was nominated for Defensive Player of the Week. Punter Cam Peasley was nominated for Special Teams Player of the Week.

• STPOW: Kyle Phillips, WR/KR, UCLA

Utah has a bye this week before returning to action on Saturday, October 9 to face USC at the LA Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. MDT on FOX.
