SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jordan Spieth hit one of the most ridiculous golf shots in Ryder Cup history early on Friday morning.

Spieth was playing alongside good friend Justin Thomas, the American pair were down two shots to world number one Jon Rahm and fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia.

It went from back to worse for the Americans who had to win the par 3 17th hole to stay alive in the match. Justin Thomas had his tee shot ricocheted off a mound to the right of the green before flying across the green and being stuck up against a wall some 12 feet below the green.

Enter Spieth, he pressed himself up against the wall, swung as hard as he could, and nearly ended up in Lake Michigan before putting on his brakes, only to have the golf ball fall some 5 feet below the cup.

Sadly, Thomas was unable to extend the match after he missed the 5-foot putt gifting Europe a 3&1 win.

The shot, however, will go down as one of the greatest golf shots to ever be seen at the Ryder Cup. It was truly remarkable.
