PROVO, Utah — It was a close contest all night, but BYU football held on to beat Arizona State 27-17.
The Cougars and Sun Devils faced off for the first time since 1998 and this time as ranked opponents. BYU never trailed in the game and goes 3-0 on the season with three victories against the Pac-12 South.
Here are some of the best reactions for the BYU football team from a jampacked night on social media.
Social Media Reacts to BYU vs. Arizona State
BYU moves to 3-0 with wins over Arizona, Utah and Arizona State and they have NEVER trailed this season.

Why doesn’t @BYUfootball get more love from national media? They are 14-1 since beginning of last season. That loss was only by 5, to another ranked team. They have beaten 3 Power 5 teams so far this season. They better be higher than 23 in rankings after this week.

It’s a good thing BYU got that Big 12 invite when it did because I’m not sure Pac-12 teams should keep scheduling them.
Cougs 3, Pac-12 0.

Wowzers. @BYUfootball is 3-0 vs #Pac12FB including wins vs a pair of top 25 teams. Impressive. #Pac12AfterDark

Is BYU sure they want to join the Big12?

This BYU Football team is the real deal. 3 straight P5 teams, 3 straight double possession wins! Guys just making plays out there! 3-0 and into the top 20.

Awesome job by Jaren Hall to reset, weave thru the rush, and uncork this beautiful deep shot pic.twitter.com/Ze8fWQxoTB

It is targeting. TV replays had clearer views. He aims for the purpose of attacking. He lowers his head and leads with the crown. And he makes forcible contact using the crown to some part of the opponent’s body. Replay should have stopped and created the foul. https://t.co/Yq66oE5r4i

Tyler Allgeier just made a George Teague Lite play to make up for a horrible interception by Jaren Hall. What a wild play.
— Pat Forde (@ByPatForde) September 19, 2021
Wowwwwww!!!!! Hell of a play 25!!!
— Draymond Green (@Money23Green) September 19, 2021
One of the most impressive plays I’ve EVER seen!!!!!

BYU rb Tyler Allgeier’s strip on that 3rd qtr interception return might be the greatest forced fumble in the history of CFB! Jumped on dude’s back, rode him, and with sideline-side arm punched the ball out and into the field of play. BYU recovered, saved a TD. Just wow. #ASUvsBYU

I feel like I’m being punk’d right now. Arizona State has five false start penalties on this drive alone
— Marcel Louis-Jacques (@Marcel_LJ) September 19, 2021
BYU’s deafening crowd is causing tons of false start penalties by ASU. Reverent on Sundays, not so much on Saturdays. #ASUvsBYU

Slide for me Hall!!! Noooooo
— Jordan Leslie (@Jles9) September 19, 2021
Baylor Romney has to come in for an injured Jaren Hall and throws a TD on third down to seal a win for BYU over Arizona State.

Congrats to BYU for clinching the Pac-12 South Division title tonight

BYU 27, ASU 17
Both are true: Good win for the Cougars and a terrible loss for the Sun Devils (16 penalties, 4 turnovers)

This @BYUfootball team is good…bold, tough, and well coached

Was thinking the same thing! If you look each of their schedules imagine the following scenario.
Clemson 11-1
BYU 12-0Resume wouldn’t even be close! https://t.co/REqLEkQ4dw
