No. 19 Provo Shuts Down Maple Mountain’s Comeback Attempt To Remain Undefeated

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The 19th ranked Provo Bulldogs won their fifth straight game after a 35-28 victory over Maple Mountain on Friday night.
The game was tied at halftime. Provo scored two unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter, while Maple Mountain found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter. But the Bulldogs added a TD in the fourth to pick up the win. For Provo, Jace Welsch ran in three touchdowns, while throwing a TD. Brogan Miles had three touchdown passes, finding Bennie Killpack, Sean Pearson and Cole McAllister for Maple Mountain.
Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the fifth week of the high school football season.
Region 5
Bountiful 15 @ Woods Cross 6
Corbin Cottle ran in the only touchdown for the Redhawks, who also got a safety and two field goals. Shane Schwenke ran in a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Woods Cross.
Viewmont 26 @ Bonneville 56
Bonneville had a 21-19 halftime lead but the Lakers took over in the fourth quarter by scoring 28 unanswered points. Koy Dixon threw four touchdowns, finding Max Diaz and Kord Shaw twice each. Dixon also ran in two touchdowns. Luke Jacobs had one passing and two rushing TD’s for Viewmont.
Northridge 37 @ Box Elder 27
Northridge had a 27-21 lead at the half and outscored the Bees 10-6 in the second half to pick up the win. Maximus Fonoti-Maikui threw two touchdowns and ran in two more TD’s. AJ Tillman caught a score and ran in another for the Knights. Matt Stratton, Daxton Sumko, Cooper Stevenson and Easton White all had rushing touchdowns for Box Elder.
Region 6
Skyline 16 @ Highland 7
Andrew Rasmussen found Austin Okerwa for a touchdown in the first quarter to give Skyline the lead. Miles Folau answered with a 49-yard rushing TD to tie the game. The Eagles made a field goal and Thomas Bunker returned a blocked kick for an 80-yard touchdown.
No. 18 Park City 46 @ Murray 6
Carson Tabaracci had two rushing touchdowns to lead Park City to the win. Chase Beyer threw two touchdown passes, one to Jonathan Allison and one to Sam Alford. Carson Baynes had a 100-yard pick-six.
Region 7
Uintah 37 @ Mountain View 34 OT
This game was close throughout and took an extra period to decide the outcome. Josh Speirs threw to Carson Coltharp for the game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion to send the game into overtime. Speirs kicked the game-winning field goal to give the Utes the win. He had four touchdown passes, finding Coltharp twice, along with one to Kaedyn Sheffield and Tyson Taylor. Jackson McCarty threw five touchdowns for Mountain View, hitting Jaemon Hill three times, along with one to DaiTrez Johnson and Harper Wilson.
Timpanogos 51 @ Payson 48
Payson had a 28-19 lead at the half and was up 32-27 heading into the fourth quarter but the Timberwolves scored 24 points in the fourth to pull off the comeback win. Matu Holdaway threw for six touchdown passes for Timpanogos. Tanner Ivers threw for five TD’s in the loss for Payson.
No. 24 Tooele 41 @ Cedar Valley 14
Utah football commit Mateaki Helu ran in three touchdowns to lead Tooele. Payton Sprouse threw two touchdown passes, one to Gabe Medina and Dylan Makoni. Mapa Vaenuku had a 99-yard scoop and score.
Stansbury 61 @ Hillcrest 0
The Stallions put up 41 points in the first half and coasted from that point. Nate Bushnell had two rushing touchdowns and a pick-six. Dylan Hamilton caught a touchdown and ran in a punt return for a TD. Matthew Topham threw a touchdown and had a pick-six. Stansbury had three defensive touchdowns and one special teams TD.
Region 9
No. 17 Wasatch 41 @ Salem Hills 12
Salem Hills jumped out to a 12-0 lead and the Wasps answered with 41 unanswered points. Quezon Villa threw four touchdowns and ran in another. Jarinn Kalama had two receiving touchdowns, while Josh Sanders and Crew Erickson each had a TD grab.
No. 21 Spanish Fork 36 @ No. 16 Springville 28
Springville had a 14-10 halftime lead before Spanish Fork scored 13 straight points in the third quarter, which was the difference in the game as the Red Devils outscored the Dons 14-13 in the fourth. Austin Stevenson finished with two rushing touchdowns and three field goals for the Dons. Ryder Burton threw for three touchdowns, connecting with Bradey Mortensen twice and Walker Deede once for Springville.

Davis (6A) 14 @ Alta 37
The Hawks put 21 unanswered points up in the first quarter and coasted from that point. Ethan Jackson threw two touchdown passes. Noah Flores had a 93-yard fumble recovery for a TD as the Hawks beat a team in a higher classification.
No. 6 Orem 42 vs. Desert Pines (Nev.) 53
Desert Pines had a 41-21 lead at the half before Orem outscored them 21-12 in the second half but the comeback was short. Mack Hixson ran in a touchdown, as did Roger Saleapaga. Chase Tuatagaloa threw four touchdowns, two to Kolton Brown and one each to Isaac Yokota and Lance Reynolds.
Cottonwood 14 @ Jordan 31
Jordan dropped 14 points in the third quarter to separate themselves from Cottonwood. Colton Austin found Derell Nichols for a touchdown. David Parchment had a pick-six, while Jamarcus Smith ran in a TD.
No. 1 Corner Canyon (6A) 52 @ Lehi 7
The streak continues for Corner Canyon as they jumped out to a 42-0 halftime lead. Isaac Wilson got the start and threw for four touchdowns, one to Ashton Free, Jett Meine, Blaze DeGracie and Jon King.

No. 14 East 22 @ Juan Diego (3A) 36
East held a lead after the first quarter but went scoreless in the second and third quarters while the Soaring Eagle had two touchdowns during that stretch. Carlos Calata, James Diego-Valdez and Antonio Rossano all had rushing touchdowns.
