Utah State Kicker Connor Coles Named MW Special Teams Player Of The Week

LOGAN, Utah – The Mountain West announced that Utah State kicker Connor Coles has been named the Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Connor Coles made three field goals in Utah State’s season opening upset win over the Washington State Cougars on Saturday night in Pullman.
In the win over WSU, Coles made field goals from 23, 39 and 28 yards respectively. It’s his second time winning the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week award in his career and it’s the 35th weekly award for a Utah State player in their ninth season in the conference.

On top of the three field goals, Coles made a PAT after Calvin Tyler Jr. scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Nevada QB Carson Strong won the Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in their win over California. Wyoming LB Chad Muma was named Defensive Player of the Year after Wyoming beat Montana State in their opener. Wyoming punter Ralph Fawaz earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Utah State will return to Maverik Stadium for their home opener on Friday, September 10 against North Dakota at 7 p.m. MDT on CBS Sports Network.
