SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Baylor Bears guard Jared Butler signed a two-year rookie contract with the Utah Jazz, according to Priority Sports.

The agency announced the deal on Thursday, August 12.

Priority Sports posted that Butler’s contracted is guaranteed over the two years.

“Congratulations to Jared Butler (@J_Hooopers11) on signing his two-year guaranteed contract with the @utahjazz!” Priority Sports tweeted.

Butler was selected by the Jazz with the No. 40 overall pick during the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Before entering the NBA Draft, Butler was a star at Baylor. During his career with the Bears, Butler was a two-time All-American and helped Baylor win the 2021 NCAA National Championship.

In his final year in Waco, Texas, Butler averaged 16.0 points on 42.1 percent shooting, including 38.1 percent on three-pointers. He also recorded 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

The Jazz recently announced that Butler would not participate in Summer League.

Butler and the Jazz open the 2021-21 regular season in October.
