No. 6 Bingham Tops No. 8 Weber In Season Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The sixth ranked Bingham Miners started the season with a big 55-35 win over No. 8 Weber.
Bingham jumped out to a 28-7 lead in the first quarter. Weber rebounded with a 21-7 second quarter. But the Miners outscored the Warriors 20-7 in the second half to pick up the win.
Here are all of the results in the 6A classification from the first week of the high school football season.
Non-Region
No. 9 Fremont 0 @ No. 2 Skyridge 31 (Thurs.)
It took Skyridge one quarter to get things going but they were able to get two touchdowns in the second quarter. McCae Hillstead threw for 260 yards and one touchdown. Jeter Fenton had 16 carries for 60 yards. Teagen Calton hauled in three receptions for 103 yards in Skyridge’s win.
Jordan (5A) 14 @ No. 16 Roy 57
Parker Kingston had a night for the Royals. He threw for three touchdowns and ran in another three. Jordan scored their two touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters.

No. 1 Corner Canyon 72 @ Farmington 21
The defending champs had a great start to the season. They scored 65 of their 72 points in the first half. Devin Brown threw eight touchdown passes, including four to Cody Hagen. Farmington was able to get two touchdowns in the second quarter but the game was already out of reach.

2022 USC commit Devin Brown threw for eight touchdowns in his Chargers' debut and did not play a snap in the second half.

Lehi (5A) 17 @ Davis 21 OT
Davis scored first before Lehi scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and the Darts tied the game in the third. Trey Talbot ran in a 7-yard touchdown in overtime to give the Darts the win.
Granger 0 @ No. 4 American Fork 60
Maddux Madsen had a strong start to the 2021 season with five touchdown passes. He found five different receivers on those scores. The Cavemen scored 46 of their 60 points in the first half and pitched a shutout defensively.
Box Elder (5A) 21 @ No. 11 Kearns 50
The 11th ranked Cougars did what they needed to do in their opener. They scored 37 of their 50 points in the first half. Iosefa Toia’ivao had a tremendous performance with four total touchdowns, two rushing and two passing.
Riverton 18 @ Syracuse 20
Syracuse jumped out to a 13-0 lead before Riverton found the end zone. The score remained 13-6 until the fourth quarter when Riverton pulled within one point. The Titans then scored a TD with over eight minutes left. The Silverwolves scored a TD before missing the two-point conversion with five minutes remaining in the game.
No. 23 Alta (5A) 34 @ Layton 27
The game was tightly contested throughout when Maika Kaufusi caught three touchdown passes from Ethan Jackson to give Alta a 25-20 lead at halftime. The Hawks scored a TD in the third quarter and held Layton scoreless. Alta had two points in the fourth and Layton had a touchdown but it wasn’t enough for the Lancers to pull off the upset.
Clearfield 7 @ No. 10 West 24
Dallas Vakalahi had two touchdown catches to lead West to a season opening win over Clearfield. Bronsyn Saena added a rushing touchdown for the Panthers.
Woods Cross (5A) 6 @ West Jordan 35
Boston Farmer threw three touchdown passes, including two to Carter Baldwin as the Jaguars get a big win over Woods Cross in the season opener.
Olympus (5A) 19 @ Mountain Ridge 37
Cade Ululave had a kick return for a touchdown on the opening kickoff. The Sentinels also had a scoop and score in the first half to take a 20-13 halftime lead. Ululave took over in the second half with two rushing touchdowns. Ryan Reynard led Olympus with two rushing TD’s.
No. 13 Timpview (5A) 31 @ No. 5 Lone Peak 44
Lone Peak had a 28-13 lead at halftime before the Thunderbirds attempted a comeback but ti was not enough. Luke Hyde had a punt return for a touchdown and a receiving TD for the Knights.
Westlake 3 @ Hunter 0
In a defensive slugfest, Westlake scored a field goal in the first quarter and that was all they needed.
