TOKYO (AP) — Japan had its best Olympic production in every category at the just-completed Tokyo Olympics.
Japan won 27 gold medals for a national record.
It also won 58 medals overall in another record.
The gold-medal total was good for third place behind the United States and China.
Countries almost always get a medal boost by being at home.
Japan’s previous best in gold was 16 in 1964 and at the 2004 Athens Games.
