Leilani Mitchell Helps Australia Basketball Crush Puerto Rico At Tokyo Olympics

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes standout and Australia Women’s Basketball guard Leilani Mitchell helped the Opals beat Puerto Rico 96-69.
The matchup with Leilani Mitchell, Australia and Puerto Rico was a part of Group C play at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Mitchell finished with 12 points, one rebound and six assists on 4-for-12 shooting from the field and 2-of-8 from the three-point line.
The first half was tightly contested as Puerto Rico outscored the Opals 24-22 in the first quarter, while Australia returned the favor by outscoring Puerto Rico 23-20 in the second quarter to take a 45-44 lead at halftime.

Mitchell struggled in the first half with just 6 points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field. In the third quarter, Mitchell scored just two points but Australia took a commanding 68-52 lead entering the fourth quarter after outscoring Puerto Rico 23-8.
Australia finished off Puerto Rico by outscoring them 28-17 in the fourth quarter.
