BYU’s Tyler Allgeier, Utah’s Britain Covey Named To Paul Hornung Award Watch List

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Louisville Sports Commission named BYU running back Tyler Allgeier and Utah wide receiver Britain Covey to the Paul Hornung Award watch list for the 2021 college football season.
The Hornung Award watch list was unveiled on Thursday, July 29.
Allgeier and Covey were two of 57 players named to the 2021 Hornung Award watch list.
The award is given annually to the “most versatile player in major college football.”

Last season, Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith of Alabama took home the Hornung Award.
Tyler Allgeier
Allgeier, a former linebacker, is a sophomore running back for the Cougars.
Last season, Allgeier had a breakout year during BYU’s 11-1 campaign. He recorded over 1,100 yards on the ground in 2020.
During his BYU career, Allgeier has carried the ball 176 times for 1,298 yards and 13 touchdowns.

BYU begins its 2021 schedule against the Arizona Wildcats on September 4.
Britain Covey
Covey is a junior wide receiver for the Utes.
After battling injuries in 2019, Covey had a bounce back season in 2020.
During his Utah career, the wide receiver has 132 catches for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns.

As a specialist, Covey has over 1,000 returns yards and two touchdowns.
Utah opens the 2021 season against the Weber State Wildcats on September 2.
BYU will host Utah on September 11.
