SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake star Albert Rusnak converted a penalty kick to level the match against Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night.
It was the first goal of the season for Rusnak who has been struggling leading up to RSL’s road clash against the Seattle Sounders.
The penalty kick was called after Seattle’s goalkeeper tripped up Rubio Rubin inside the 18-yard box. Rusnak took the penalty kick and went to his left, beating the keeper as he went low while the shot went high. The score was tied at one apiece in the 79th minute.

Rusnak has had a chip on his shoulder after being left off of the Slovakian National Team during the Euro tournament. In 2021 with RSL, Rusnak has one assist and two shots on goal entering the match against Seattle.
During the 2020 season, Rusnak put three goals into the back of the net in 16 games played. Before that season, he scored 10 goals in each of the previous two seasons.
Real Salt Lake will return home to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, June 26 at 6 p.m. MDT on KSLSports.com or the KSL Sports app.
