Climbing Makes Olympic Debut At Tokyo 2020 Games

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – One of the competitions making its Olympic debut during the Tokyo 2020 Games is sport climbing.

Sport climbing will be introduced on the international stage during the Summer Olympics beginning in July.

The Olympic competition of sport climbing will consist of three “disciplines,” which are bouldering, lead climbing, and speed climbing.

“Bouldering is you, the wall, and the mats,” described Brooke Raboutou.

Lead climbing is “much taller” and requires a rope that you clip into the wall.

Speed climbing is based on time.

The Summer Olympics begin on July 23 and run until August 8.
