LOGAN, Utah – Former Utah Runnin’ Utes signee Norbert Thelissen has officially joined the Utah State basketball program.
Utah State head coach Ryan Odom announced the signing of Norbert Thelissen to his roster. Thelissen signed with the Utes last season with the intention to play during the 2021-22 season but entered the transfer portal rather than arriving on campus in Salt Lake City. His departure from Utah came after head coach Larry Krystkowiak was fired after 10 seasons at the helm.
After Thelissen entered the portal, he decided to join the Utah State Aggies and Ryan Odom.
“We are extremely excited about the addition of Norbert to our program,” Odom said. “Norbert is a versatile forward with major potential and his game fits our style of play.”

Thelissen will have four years of eligibility after playing in the Dutch professional leagues with Heroes Den Bosch. He played 19 games for Heroes in both 2018-19 and 2019-20. Thelissen represented the Netherlands at the Division B FIBA U20 European Championships in Portugal in 2019, posting averages of 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
The Aggies and Utes have done some swapping of sorts since Craig Smith left the Aggies to become the head coach of the Utes. Smith brought Rollie Worster and Marco Anthony with him to Utah, while Ryan Odom picked up Rylan Jones and Thelissen.
