Wilson is the first former BYU player in the green room at an NFL draft since Ziggy Ansah in 2013. Ansah’s wait in the room wasn’t long as he was selected No. 5 overall to the Detroit Lions. Wilson’s wait is expected to be shorter.

Heading into the NFL draft, Wilson is a favorite to be selected by the New York Jets with their No. 2 overall pick. After a season where he tossed 33 touchdowns and only three interceptions, Wilson had an impressive Pro Day performance throwing the football in front of NFL GMs, head coaches, and league personnel.

If Wilson does go No. 2 overall, he would be the highest selected player out of the BYU Football program. The previous high was Ansah and Jim McMahon in 1982 at No. 5.
Other notables expected to be in attendance at the 2021 NFL draft include Alabama quarterback Mac Jones and North Dakota State signal-caller Trey Lance. Florida tight end Kyle Pitts and Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver Devonta Smith from Alabama will also be in attendance.
Projected No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence declined an invitation to attend the 2021 NFL draft.
This will be the first year with a green room at the draft since 2019. Last year’s event took place virtually amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
