Utah State’s Ryan Odom Officially Adds UMBC’s Matt Henry To Coaching Staff
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Odom officially hired one of his former UMBC assistants as the newest member of his Aggie coaching staff.
USU hired Matt Henry as one of Odom’s assistants on Wednesday, April 21.
“I am thrilled to join Coach Odom’s staff at Utah State,” Henry said in a statement. “The history and tradition of Utah State Aggie Basketball speaks for itself. The opportunity to become part of such a program is very rare. My family and I are looking forward to joining the Cache Valley community and we can’t wait for our first taste of Spectrum Magic this winter.”
Henry coached on Odom’s UMBC staff each of the past three seasons.
Before coaching the Retrievers, Henry was an assistant coach at St. Peter’s, Mount St. Mary’s, and Trinity University.
Henry started his Division I career as the director of basketball operations at Georgetown.
His is a native of Alexandria, Virginia. Henry graduated from Trinity University in 2001 after studying urban studies and political science.
In addition to Henry, Odom is bringing two other assistants with him from UMBC to Utah State, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.
Those assistant coaches are reportedly Nate Dixon and Bryce Crawford.
The new Aggie assistants will coach in the same roles they did at UMBC, according to Rothstein.
