Dixie State Ends Spring Football Season With Blowout Win Over Fort Lewis

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State Trailblazers wrapped up their spring football season with a 60-0 blowout win over Fort Lewis at home on Saturday night.
Kody Wilstead tied his career-high and a Dixie State single game record by throwing five touchdown passes on 282 yards. Deven Osborne caught seven passes for 147 yards and two TD’s. Quali Conley ran for 73 yards and a score, while catching a touchdown pass.
Dixie State started the game with a 22-yard field goal after recovering a fumble. They were up 3-0 with 11:18 remaining in the first quarter. Fort Lewis punted on their next two possessions, while Dixie State booted the ball away once. When the Trailblazers got the ball they needed just two plays to get a 39-yard rushing touchdown by Quali Conley to put DSU ahead 10-0 with 5:09 left in the opening quarter.

Towards the end of the first quarter, Kody Wilstead found Deven Osborne for a 40-yard touchdown. The Dixie State lead was up to 23-0 with 3:01 left in the first quarter. Then midway through the second quarter with 8:25 until halftime, Wilstead threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to David Fisher to give the Trailblazers a 30-0 lead.

Dixie State managed to get two more touchdowns before halftime as Wilstead connected with C. Hess for a 14-yard touchdown to put them up 37-0 with 3 minutes left until the break. Then Wilstead threw another TD to Deven Osborne, this time from 38-yards out to give them a 44-0 lead at the halftime break.
Just over three minutes into the third quarter, Wilstead hit Quali Conley for a 17-yard touchdown to put them up 51-0. Dixie State was able to get a field goal early in the fourth quarter to stretch their advantage to 54-0.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Dixie State settled for another field goal to give them a 57-0 lead. With under two minutes left, Dixie State hit another field goal and their lead stretched to 60-0.
Dixie State ended their 2021 spring football season with a 2-3 record. They will start up another football season in the fall.
