“I just trusted that the wind was where it was supposed to be and I obviously hit a great 9-iron. I knew it was straight on line but with the glare and everything I couldn’t see, it looked like it bounced a little bit past the hole, and then when we heard the people go crazy then it was really nice,” Garcia said immediately following his walk-off ace.
Garcia and Westwood were fighting to qualify for the Round of 16 after both being tied on two points in Group 8.
Garcia will now play Canadian Mackenzie Hughes on Saturday who advanced as the winner of Group 9.
