INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Sister Jean, the 101-year-old Loyola Chicago Chaplain, has BYU basketball advancing all the way to the Final Four.
For BYU, a program that has never played in a Final Four, they could use all the good karma they can get to make that One Shining Moment run.
Sister Jean reveals her Final Four picks
Sister Jean revealed her tournament picks in a video call with NCAA’s Andy Katz leading up to March Madness. Her other three teams in the Final Four include No. 1 Gonzaga and a pair of Big 12 teams in Baylor and West Virginia.
“I picked them to the #Elite8 – that’s to encourage my young men.” ❤️#SisterJean is predicting another big run by @RamblersMBB, but she has @ZagMBB winning it all! 👀 #MarchMadness @TheAndyKatz pic.twitter.com/QG6tkTSTg3

She doesn’t have BYU winning the title. That pick goes to BYU’s WCC rival Gonzaga. So, according to Sister Jean, she has an All-WCC National Semifinal in the Final Four.
Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt became a national sensation in 2018 during Loyola Chicago’s improbable run to the Final Four. With the Ramblers back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since that magical run, Schmidt is again in the headlines.

She hasn’t been with her Ramblers team this year due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic. But recently, Sister Jean became vaccinated and is now cleared to be in the Ramblers traveling party here in Indianapolis.
Schmidt has her Ramblers advancing one round shy of the Final Four. She has them moving all the way to the Elite 8 before falling to the Mountaineers of West Virginia.
Loyola Chicago, an 8-seed, plays on Friday against ACC Tournament champion Georgia Tech.
BYU is waiting on who they will officially play in Saturday First Round action at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Cougars will open up with the winner of a First Four game between College Basketball bluebloods Michigan State or UCLA.
