SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jazz star Donovan Mitchell channeled his inner Patrick Mahomes when he threw a dart to Derrick Favors for the and-one against the Pacers.
Jazz center Derrick Favors set a screen for Donovan Mitchell at the top of the three-point line that set up the Patrick Mahomes type pass. Two Indiana Pacers players hedged over to Mitchell as Favors was diving to the basket. Mitchell threw the ball over his head with his right hand to Favors. The Jazz big man finished with a layup while getting fouled by Justin Holiday.
The bucket by Favors gave him his fourth point of the game and then five points after making the free throw. Utah took a 32-29 lead over the Pacers with 8:05 remaining in the second quarter. Mitchell was getting ready for Super Bowl LV on Sunday night as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs battle Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The game was tied at 47 at the halftime break. Donovan Mitchell had 16 points to lead the Jazz. Jordan Clarkson knocked down three triples off the bench, finishing the half with 9 points. Jeremy Lamb led the Pacers with 10 points. Both Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis had 9 points in the first 24 minutes.
Utah is playing without Mike Conley, who is out with hamstring tightness. It was an injury that he suffered in their win over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.
The Jazz are wrapping up a three-game road trip. They will return to Vivint Arena for four straight games beginning on Tuesday, February 9 against the Boston Celtics at 8 p.m. MST on TNT.
