PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball is getting back the games that have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Wednesday, the WCC and BYU announced the Cougars conference matchup against San Diego had been rescheduled for February 2 at 7 p.m. (MT). The game was originally supposed to be played on January 2, but the Toreros experienced issues with COVID-19, causing the postponement.

This is the second postponed game involving BYU that has been rescheduled by the WCC. The other is a road trip to Malibu against Pepperdine. That game will take place on Wednesday, January 27, at 1 p.m. (MT).
“I think we had a tougher start to the season than any conference in the country. Half of our league was actually out due to COVID, so it put everyone behind,” said BYU coach Mark Pope during his weekly coaches show (KSL NewsRadio, Tuesday, 9 p.m.).
“We just jumped on an all coaches conference meeting, yesterday or the day before, and I think [WCC Commissioner] Gloria [Nevarez] and Aaron [Woliczko] have kind of put together a new plan where we will be able to respond more nimbly to fill in conference games or maybe if it comes to it, go play games outside of the conference. So I feel like we have a detailed plan, and hopefully, we’ll be able to get through the ensuing nine weeks a little bit better than the first two weeks.”
The one game on the BYU basketball schedule that has yet to be rescheduled is a home game against Pacific. Pope said they are working on getting the game back against the Tigers and “it could be soon” with a rescheduled date.
BYU has only played one game in the last 21 days. Starting on January 14 at Saint Mary’s, the Cougars will go the next four weeks, playing a total of nine games with the rescheduled dates back on the schedule.
