SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU sophomore running back Tyler Allgeier found the end zone for the first time as he ran in a TD in the third quarter of the Boca Raton Bowl.
The Cougars started their first drive of the second half at midfield after forcing UCF to punt on their first series of the half. BYU quarterback Zach Wilson threw an 11-yard pass to tight end Isaac Rex before Allgeier ran in a 39-yard touchdown. That gave the Cougars a 42-10 lead over UCF with 12:58 left in the third quarter.
In the second quarter, Allgeier eclipsed the 1,000-yard on the ground this season. He became the 16th BYU running back to hit that mark and the first since Jamaal Williams did it in 2016.
