Originally, the Legends Classic was set up to be a tournament featuring USC, UConn, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt. Notre Dame dropped out this summer, opening the door for BYU to step in. Now with Vanderbilt out, the event will serve as a showcase. Games will include BYU/USC, USC/UConn, UConn/NC State, and BYU/St. John’s, according to reports.
BYU Basketball to face St. John’s in “Bubbleville”
The Mohegan Sun Arena has been deemed “Bubbleville” for all of the MTE’s that have come together to be played in that venue to open the 2020-21 season. St. John’s is already in “Bubbleville,” set to play a game on Monday afternoon against Boston College.
The Johnnies were originally going to travel to Texas Tech this week. That game has now officially been canceled as they look to play BYU instead.

St. John’s is currently 2-0 and ranked No. 75 in the Ken Pomeroy ratings. The last time BYU played the Johnnies was in 1990 in Provo when Lou Carneseca was St. John’s head coach. BYU is 1-7 all-time against St. John’s, with the one win taking place in 1956 in New York.
This week is a busy one for the Cougars. After they play USC and potentially St. John’s in “Bubbleville,” BYU will return to Utah and make the bus ride to Logan to face in-state rival Utah State in the Spectrum. BYU is 3-0 this season after wins over Westminster, New Orleans, and Utah Valley last week.
