HOUSTON, Tex. – The Houston Texans announced that they have activated former Utah defensive end Nate Orchard from the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list.
Orchard started the season with the Washington Football team. He re-signed with the organization in 2020 after playing for them last season. Washington released Orchard on September 5, 2020 and was signed on the practice squad. Later in September, Washington promoted him to the active roster. On November 7, Orchard was waived.
Two days later, Orchard was claimed off of waivers by the Texans and is now activated from the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list.

In 2020, Orchard appeared in three games for Washington, picking up two tackles. The former second round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft, Orchard signed with his seventh NFL team. After his stint with the Browns, Orchard joined the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. He spent a short time with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 before joining the Seattle Seahawks.
Houston is currently 2-7 in 2020. They have fired head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien earlier this season. The Texans will host the New England Patriots on Sunday, November 22 at 11 a.m. MST on CBS.
