BOISE, Idaho – Early in the Top 25 showdown between BYU and Boise State, the Broncos made a switch at quarterback due to injury.

Starter Jack Sears left the game due to an injury, and in stepped true freshman Cade Fennegan.

Fennegan, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the son of former BYU football player Garth Fennegan. The elder Fennegan played at BYU from 1990-93 and played quarterback and defensive back during his career in Provo. He was once a commit to Clemson before signing with BYU in the class of 1990.

Cade Fennegan was a two-star quarterback recruit in 2018 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. Fennegan served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Argentina before enrolling at Boise State this season.

BYU leads Fennegan and the Broncos 16-3 at the half. Through the first 30 minutes, Fennegan passed for 46 yards and an interception in only his second game action of his career.
