PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s basketball announced its seven-game 2020-21 non-conference schedule. The seven-game slate opens up on November 27th when the Cougars take on the SEC’s LSU Tigers.

BYU and LSU is part of the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Last season, LSU was 20-10 and viewed as a likely at-large team in the field of 64 before the NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s been difficult to try and get our seven games, but we’ve put together a good schedule against good competition,” BYU head coach Jeff Judkins said. “We’re excited about the teams we’re playing that will give our players plenty of experience playing in different venues and against solid programs.”

BYU finished last season with an underwhelming 18-11 record. A big step back from their round of 32 run in the NCAA Tournament in 2019. But BYU brings back their star point guard in Shaylee Gonzales, who redshirted a season ago after suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

After LSU, BYU will play UT-Martin the following day on November 28th as part of the South Point Shootout. Then the Cougars will make their first-ever trip to St. George to face the Dixie State TrailBlazers. This season marks the first year Dixie State is a Division I athletic department. The Trail Blazers will compete in the WAC. BYU owns a 5-0 lead all-time against Dixie, with the last meeting taking place in 2018.

BYU stays in the Beehive State with the rest of their non-conference schedule, making a trip to the Cache Valley to take on Utah State on December 7th, followed by a three-game homestand: Montana State, Boise State, and Utah Valley on December 15th to close out the non-conference schedule.
