SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Utes wide receiver Jaylen Dixon announced that he has entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

On Monday, October 12, @RivalsPortal tweeted that Dixon entered the Transfer Portal.

A short time later, Dixon confirmed the news with a post on social media.

“It is never easy leaving a place that has been such an integral part of my development on and off the field. When understanding where I am right now and where I want to be in this process, sometimes decisions have to be made to continue to grow,” Dixon tweeted. “With that being said, I have officially entered my name in the NCAA transfer portal and will be looking at opportunities at another University. I have the utmost respect for the U of U coaching staff, former teammates and faculty who have been a huge part of my life these past 3 years.”

The junior wide receiver has been a member of Utah football since 2017 and played in 28 games for the Utes.

Dixon has two years of eligibility remaining.

During his time with the University of Utah, Dixon started nine games.

Following a redshirt season in 2017, he played for the Utes in 2018 and 2019.

Dixon owns careers stats of 56 receptions for 932 yards and 3 touchdowns.

After Dixon’s announcement, fellow Utah receiver Britain Covey shared his thoughts on the move.

Love this guy so much! Hard to see him go but I will be his friend and fan for the rest of my life,” Covey posted. “Whoever lands JD will get an amazing player and an even better teammate. Cheetah!! #Smurfs”

Utah is scheduled to open its 2020 season against the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, November 7.
