Cottonwood Defeats Providence Hall On Game-Winning TD In Final Seconds

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Cottonwood Colts defeated the Providence Hall Patriots on a game-winning touchdown with five seconds left in the game.
Providence Hall (3A) 29 Cottonwood 36
Cottonwood improved to 3-5 with the win.
Providence Hall fell to 3-5 on the year with the seven-point loss.
Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the ninth week of the high school football season.
Region 5
Farmington 0 at Bountiful 16
The Braves scored both of their touchdowns in the first quarter and got a safety in the fourth quarter. Jaden Tidwell connected with Brooks Fornelius early in the quarter and Corbin DuBois ran one in from 57-yards out.
Viewmont 0 Woods Cross 38
The Woods Cross Wildcats blanked the Viewmont Vikings 38-0 on Friday night. Canton Naegle and Griffin Hess each scored two touchdowns for the Wildcats. Woods Cross moved to 1-8 on the season and Viewmont fell to 1-5.

Highland at Murray

Hillcrest 0 at No. 6 Brighton 63
On Thursday, the Bengals scored 28 points in the first quarter and coasted to the win. Gabe Curtis threw two touchdowns and ran in two more. He connected with Carter Budge both times. Mason Young had two rushing touchdowns and the Bengals also had TD’s on the ground from Collin Edwards, Nick Benner and Owen Powers.

Mountain Ridge at No. 9 Orem

Region 8
Provo 17 at Maple Mountain 42
On Thursday, Maple Mountain jumped out to a 35-14 lead in the first half and that was all they needed to pick up the Region 8 win. For the home team, Tyler Nelson threw two TD passes to Brian Bess and Kyson Hall. Nelson also ran in two touchdowns as did Thomas Weight. For Provo, Jace Welsch and Jamison Harward each ran in a rushing touchdown.

Spanish Fork 58 at Payson 0
On Thursday, the Dons scored 44 of their 58 points in the first half. Jacob Tutagavou connected with Morley Bennett for the only passing TD. The QB also ran in a score. Josh Buck had two rushing TD’s and Tubby Reupena added a rushing TD.

No. 15 Wasatch 0 at Salem Hills 21
On Thursday, Salem Hills shut out the Wasps in upset fashion. Jarret Elmer threw all three TD’s, finding Reed Johnson twice and Austin Hallows once.

West Jordan (6A) 7 Olympus 30
After trailing the West Jordan Jaguars 7-0 in the first half, the Olympus Titans scored 30 unanswered points over the second and third quarters of play to win 30-7. Titans quarterback Tommy Hoggan tossed a trio of touchdown passes in the win. Olympus moved to 5-4 and West Jordan fell to 2-6.
