PROVO, Utah – BYU senior Troy Warner pulled in his first career interception during the Cougars 45-14 victory over Louisiana Tech. The interception was a special moment for Warner, who’s waited since 2016 to pull down a pick.
His first career INT was a big one for BYU’s defense, and with BYU-LA Tech being the only FBS vs. FBS game on a Friday night college football slate, Warner’s big play was recognized on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
Warner’s first interception of his BYU career checked in at No. 8 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays for Friday’s busy day on the sporting calendar. What’s impressive about Warner’s INT is the intended LA Tech receiver is pulling down Warner by the arm, and the Cougars senior captain still comes up with the INT.

Coming into the game against LA Tech, BYU had yet to pick off an opponent’s pass this season. After Warner’s interception, Max Tooley got in on the action late in the fourth quarter to rest a potential late touchdown for the Bulldogs, giving BYU two INTs on the night.
The 45-14 win puts BYU at 3-0 heading into the weekend and one of the hottest teams in college football this season.
