No. 5 Orem Shuts Out No. 6 East In 5A Battle

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 5 ranked Orem Tigers recorded a shutout in their game against the No. 6 seed East Leopards.

Orem hosted East in Orem, Utah on Friday, August 21.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers pounced to a 10-0 lead in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Orem added a pair of touchdowns to go up 24-0.

The Tigers held off the Leopards in the fourth quarter for the three-score margin and their second victory of the season.

Orem quarterback Micah Fe’A tossed three touchdowns in the win.

Carbon (3A) 12 Cottonwood 14

The Cottonwood Colts hosted the Carbon Dinos on Friday, August 21. Prior to the game, Cottonwood honored its seniors due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the season. The Colts owned a 14-0 lead at halftime and held off a 12-point comeback attempt by the Dinos in the second half to hold on for a 14-12 win. Cottonwood’s Jordan Larett ran for a touchdown in the victory.

Cedar Valley (4A) 27 Spanish Fork 48

The Spanish Fork Dons dominated the Cedar Valley Aviators on Friday night. After a close first half, the Dons scored 27 points in the second half and held off the Aviators for a 48-27 win. Spanish Fork’s Jacob Tutagavou and Tayson Reid each ran for a pair of touchdowns in the game.

Copper Hills (6A) 20 Hillcrest 6

The Copper Hills Grizzlies and Hillcrest Huskies went to the fourth quarter tied at 6-6 on Friday evening. Copper Hills scored 14 unanswered points in the final 12 minutes of action to win 20-6.

No. 10 Davis (6A) 45 Viewmont 6

The No. 10 Davis Darts held a 24-0 lead at halftime and added another 21 points in the third quarter to blast the Viewmont Vikings 45-6 on Friday, August 21. Davis quarterback Chance Trujillo threw for three touchdowns in the win.

Fremont (6A) 10 Salem Hills 27

The Fremont SilverWolves and the Salem Hills SkyHawks went to the final quarter of Friday’s game tied at 10 apiece. Salem Hills dropped 17 points in the fourth quarter to fly away with a 27-10 win.

Juan Diego (4A) 10 Park City 44

The Park City Miners scored 35 unanswered points in the second half to come back from a 10-9 deficit in the third quarter. Park City’s Max Alford ran for three scores in the win.

Manti (3A) 51 Payson 21

The Manti Templars crushed the Payson Lions by 30 points on Friday evening. Manti scored 23 unanswered points in the second half in a 51-21 win over Payson. Templars running back Tyson Brenchley ran for three touchdowns in the game.

Mountain Crest (4A) 6 Wasatch 20

The Wasatch Wasps held onto a 20-0 lead entering the fourth quarter and limited the Mountain Crest Mustangs to one late score to win 20-6 on Friday. Wasatch kicker Ashton Southam connected on a pair of field goals in the two-score win.

Mountain View 53 Timpanogos 13

After jumping out to a 13-7 lead, the Timpanogos Timberwolves surrendered 46 straight points to the Mountain View Bruins on Friday, August 21. The Bruins scored 25 points in the third quarter alone. Mountain View had four players rush for touchdowns in the win.

Springville 14 Skyline 49

The Skyline Eagles blasted the Springville Red Devils over the final three quarters of action for a 49-14 win on Friday. The two teams were tied at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Skyline tacked on 28 points and ran away with the win. Eagles quarterback Braxton Bolingbroke tossed six touchdowns in the blowout.

Syracuse 7 Farmington 28

The Farmington Phoenix scored a touchdown in all four quarters and held the Syracuse Titans to one score for a 28-7 win on Friday night. Farmington’s Caden Reynolds, Boston Reinhold, Drew Patterson, and Payton Patterson all rushed for touchdowns in the win.
