Report: Power 5 Conference Commissioners Discussing No Football In Fall

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Commissioners of the Power 5 conferences reportedly held an emergency meeting on Sunday.

According to ESPN, the commissioners had growing concern among college athletics officials that the upcoming college football season and other fall sports can’t be played because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Many reports have indicated that the Big Ten presidents met on Saturday and are about ready to “pull the plug” on its fall sports season.

The MAC (Mid-American Conference) became the first FBS conference to postpone fall sports until spring on Saturday. In the FCS ranks, the Big Sky has postponed their fall sports to the spring.

Several sources told ESPN over the past 48 hours that postponement or cancellation of the football season seems “inevitable.”

Reports indicate that the Big Ten or Pac-12 would be the first league to do it. The ACC, Big 12 and SEC wait to see what happened after students returned to campus this month. It sounds like the three conferences might be forced to act if the Big Ten and/or the Pac-12 cancel or postpone the season.
